June 24, 2010— It's been a good run. I have loved every moment of my time working on Printing News, and I harbor no ill will toward the company or the decision. These things happen, and with the publishing industry in flux, while this was a surprise, at the same time it wasn't. So I wish everyone still at Cygnus the best of luck, and I am looking forward to my next challenge! -Toni McQuilken

Cygnus Business Media has stopped publishing weekly Printing News, a magazine that served the print and graphic communications industry. The move is effective immediately.
Instead, the magazine's resources will be put toward fulfilling a new contract with the Graphic Arts Show Company to produce print and digital versions of the Graph Expo Show Daily, which is distributed at the show. Reed Business Information's Graphic Arts Monthly produced the contract before the magazine folded earlier this year.
Printing News was mailed to commercial printers, print brokers and media service providers in three states-New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The magazine had about 6,000 distribution including pass-along.
Cygnus laid off two editors from Printing News while retaining publisher Kelley Holmes and editorial director Bob Hall.
"This is only a revamping of the regional print strategy for this particular publication," says Holmes. "The publication has become an international brand based on the influences of the online print community. Printing News was distributed to just three states. The information we deliver has shown to be of global interest requiring us to rethink how we deliver the news."
